We Need Help
Are people better today?
-September 11th says 'No.'
-Attempted genocide in Africa says 'No.'
-The continued killing between Israelis and Palestinians says 'No.'
-Millions of aborted babies say No. Drugs and rampant alcohol say 'No.'
-A man killing his wife and three children says 'No.'
-Prisons overflowing with criminals say 'No.'
-Divorce, adultery, fornication, pornography say 'No.'
The list could go on, because "the beat goes on." With all our so-called "progress" in so many areas where human inventiveness asserts itself, men may think our world is better. Materially, maybe, but morally and spiritually? 'No.'
The humanists are dead wrong. Men cannot, ever, solve the world's problems alone. We need help--Divine help. Jeremiah 10.23 reads... "I know, O LORD, that a man's way is not in himself, Nor is it in a man who walks to direct his steps."
But surely, someone says, if Christianity is the answer it would have solved all the world's problems by now. Well, a wise person said, "Christianity hasn't been tried and found wanting; It hasn't been tried."
All those evil things mentioned in the first paragraph, and other evils too, are eliminated in the hearts and lives of those who truly follow Christ. They will be solved universally only when Christianity-true discipleship-is universal. Meanwhile, let us walk in the light.
The Lord's church must continue, with even greater diligence, to declare the message of salvation, goodness, and light to those around us. It's called the
"Great Commission."
