Portraits
We go to church on Sunday and
We bow our heads and pray,
And, after that, for one more week
We put our God away.
We turn to Him on Sunday for
The favors that we seek,
And then we just forget Him through
The hours of the week.
How poorly can we treat our Lord,
What gifts can we expect,
When we ignore His presence or
Are guilty of neglect?
Why do we not remember Him
When Monday is at hand,
And ask Him every day to bless
Our family and land?
We ought to think of God each day
And thank Him in our prayers,
As He dispels our fears in life
And carries all our cares.
