Developing a Christian Community
Oh, what a undertaking ,but wouldn't it be nice. Can it be done, yes it can. God has given you and every biblical congregation the power to do so. We have failed and have failed miserably but it's not too late to do something about it.
We continue to build bigger buildings while at the same time our numbers keep getting smaller and smaller. Don't you agree that there is just something wrong. Let's change that picture and build upon the rock that Jesus gave us to build on. These buildings can be utilized 6 days a week instead
of two.
What I purpose is nothing new. You do it every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night. I'm suggesting that you take these same classes to the children of your community. If these Christian principles were taught to the children of your community on a daily basis, you would see a change of attitudes in the people in your community. A good dose of Christianity has never hurt anybody.
We need to develop programs that begin when the public schools dismiss for the day. Hundreds of children are left alone until the parents get home from work. We need to take these children in and teach them Christianity at no charge to their parents. There is a great need for our children to be taught the basic moral standards. They are bombarded daily with the corruption of the world and need a safe place to go and receive nourishment of the soul and body. God has given you the facility, the know how and enough talented people to carry such a program to it fullest. Surely two hours a day is not too great a sacrifice to make to teach a child about Jesus and how to be a
good citizen of our great country.
Remember, you learn math one hour a day, you learn how to spell one hour a day, you learn history one hour a day, I think you get the picture. You teach Christianity one hour a day to the children in your community you will develop a Christian.
I pray you will take this suggestion to your congregation and develop a program that will be second to none. Remember Jesus instructed us to teach the little children.
