A New Beginning

Christianity has been described as the place of new beginnings. A lost person can obey the gospel any hour of any day and thus make a brand new beginning. And one who has already done that may begin their life anew every day or even several times a day. This is one of the beautiful aspects of Christianity.

Every now and then we find ourselves in a situation that is very conducive for making a new start, and the beginning of the new year is perhaps the most conducive of all.

Some of you have yet to obey the gospel. You believe in Jesus but you have never surrendered yourself to Him and been baptized for the remission of your sins (Acts 2:38). You have been intending to become a Christian for some time and that is still your plan. Why not now? Why not today? You need a new beginning and you can have today.

Some of you obeyed the gospel years ago, but somewhere along the way your faith weakened. Perhaps you became discouraged or offended or the cares of this world choked out your faith. You didn’t want or plan for this to happen, but it did. So now you are just barely hanging on. Oh, how you need a new beginning and what a wonderful opportunity this is for you to start all over again.

I know a minister who had been with a certain church for several years and he began to think that he needed a new beginning elsewhere. So he began to look for an opportunity. After several months of looking, it seemed that nothing promising could be arranged. Eventually he decided he would simply make a new beginning where he was. Instead of continuing in the attitude and action of a minister trying to leave, he would adopt the attitude and action of one just arriving. Very shortly the urge to move disappeared.

It is not too late and you can do it right here.
