Seeking And Finding
Seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Great livers have all lived aggressively. They have launched out, chosen their course, their causes, and with a positive attitude met life head on. Others have been disappointed in life because they have stood still, let life flow past, and simply hoped that somehow the good things of life would come their way. Though the context of this verse pertains to prayer, Jesus laid down a fixed principle of life when He said:
Seek, and ye shall find.
Look for friends and you will find them. It was Solomon who said,
He who would have friends must show himself friendly. We must seek. In simply waiting many would-be friends are allowed to pass on by. Take the initiative!
Seek!
Again, what we see in people is usually what we are looking for, what we are seeking. Jesus warns against faultfinding.
Do not judge lest you be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. And why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. Matthew 7.1-5. Love always looks for the good. I Corinthians 13. Paul said it again this way,
To the pure all things are pure. Seek and ye shall find. Hold anyone under suspicion, and he will show you his worst.
Now, we shouldn’t seek the effects without the causes. Don’t confuse the two. Our Lord is the cause. A surrendered and dedicated life will produce the effects. In cultivating a life of faith, humility, trust and obedience, we are assured that its effects will follow as the night the day.
Seek and ye shall find.
